Koeleria

Annual or perennial grassed, make neat tufts, with erect, narrow silvery, panicles of flowers in late spring through to summer. Good for full sun on an average soil. With their relatively early flowering these can be useful for extending the grasses flowering season.

As with all evergreen, tufted grasses, the tussocks (especially if not cut right back in the autumn) provide overwintering niches for beneficial predatory insects such as ladybirds, and the seeds may be eaten by finches and sparrows.
