We've limited experience with this genus, growing 1 of over 100 species available. Evergreen or deciduous grasses, native to dry hillsides, meadows of wood margins. Previously known as Avena.

As with all tussock-forming evergreen grasses, established plants provide a sheltered microhabitat for overwintering beneficial insects such as ladybirds.
