Francoa
Although there is only one species (or some sources suggest five closely related species) bridal wreath, wedding flower, from Chile is an excellent evergreen perennial. Forming large clumps, of softly hairy, crinkle-surfaced, rich green leaves. They reduce over winter, but will be replaced anew in the spring. Many tall, slender spikes of 5-petalled flowers, white through to pink, with delicate markings are produced over summer. In drier soils, some light shade may suit it, otherwise full sun in a good soil. It can have a reputation for disappearing over winter, our experience doesn't match this and as a fall back it will produce copious amounts of seed.
The long-lasting flower spikes attract a range of insects, including bees and butterflies, throughout the midsummer period.
