Arenaria

Typically white flowers, on small low growing plants, evergreen or deciduous. Good for pots, trough, rocks gardens, or the front of a sunny border.

A large genus of low plants with often small flowers, A. monata is amongst the largest-flowered, a mountain species that needs large flowers to attract the limited number of pollinators in often cold, wet and windy situations. Smaller bees and flies are the most frequent visitors. Its evergreen cushion growth-form helps conserve water and provides a protected environment for invertebrates on otherwise inhospitable rocks and scree.
